Author Patrick Astre served in the US Army Infantry, stationed in Germany during the height of the Cold War. Rising to the rank of Sergeant E-5, Astre finished his last year of service as a Drill Instructor at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Great read.This one starts with Sheriff O'Day. He's bought and payed for and a pervert who's after a young black girl. A young girl who's brother moves her to Boston to get her out of Bayou Cocher, LA and away from Sheriff O'Day.
Its also about a robbery ten years later in 2008. A robbery where four men were killed and a gem from the time of Jean Lafitte is stolen. A gem thats supposed to have powers.
Francois Dupont and his partner Isreal Iskewitz, better known as simply Ike, are a couple of PI's in NYC. Both are former Force Recon Marine and both served in Afganistan.
Francois has loads of baggage from that time in his life. Francois was born in Bayou Chocher, LA. A place he will be heading back to as soon as he finds Jazmine Dupain who's in NY.
Jazmines brother, Hap Dupain, is someone Francois has known all of his life. Dupain is also head of the crew that runs Colored Town in Bayou Chocher. Dupain wants to hire Francois to find Jazmine.
Francois heads for upper New York State to find Jazmine. Both Jazmine and Hap are the siblings of Jimmy Dupain. A Jimmy who was killed in Afghanistan saving Francois's life. A Jimmy who was his best friend and teammate.
We also have Janet Waterman. She runs a protection agency and her brother David is a CPA.
David told her he was going to be doing something a little unusual. Shortly after that he's murdered and Janet is out to find his killer.
She of course runs into Francois and Ike.
So begins one super great read.
This one has Francois, Ike, Janet, Jazmine, a dog named Leica, the FBI, a reverend and his giant henchman, revenge, murder, attempted murder, a bombing, a mysterious killer named Kolb, death, a gem that everyone is looking for, the mob, Francois losing the love of his life and Francois and Ike in a the fight of their lives.
Loads of action and one super ending. Five Stars and then some.

good book 5 stars
Fast paced, holds your attention as it has something constantly going on. Can't wait to move on to the next one in the series
First in a series of three books, with storyline and character's following. A very good book. Hope the author's adds more to the series.
Patrick Astre' s writing is exciting and full of action. The characters are interesting and believable. The ending is exceptional.
Astre is a great writer. I enjoyed this read very much.
I just finished the first three books in this series, all very good books. I wish there were half star ratings, this was close to five stars but not quite. Well written, lots of action, good characters, excellent good action reading.
It is so well written you feel like you know the people in the story personally and you are right there experiencing what they go through. You don't need to be a huge military buff to read it either. The book evokes so many emotions highs and lows---on top of that it is a real page turner. I finished the book in a two days, I couldn't put it down. It is a story of an amazing story! Read this book, I promise you won't regret it!
